We started with a simple idea.
Buy a building downtown to use as studio space for our projects. While rehabbing the historic building, we saw the possibilities for more, for a gathering place to welcome other artists doing interesting work, often those on the fringes, those starting out, those who may not quite fit.
That was over ten years ago. Our mission has grown and we have been joined in our efforts to bring an artistic presence, an art scene, to downtown Vincennes by ArtSpace Vincennes and the Northwest Territory Art Guild. From First Friday Art Walks to poetry readings, book talks and public sculptures initiatives, the Open Gallery is helping to bring community together in downtown Vincennes.
